Brontë - Art Deco Sideboard / Dresser
Brontë is a vintage 1953 sideboard / dresser made by Shrager Brothers of London as part of their Masterpiece Furniture collection. This piece has the most exquisite walnut grain and beautiful curves to match. She has been refinished in a deep grey/blue ash mineral paint and features an art-deco inspired gold geometric design. This piece is incredibly versatile and would look beautiful as a sideboard / buffet in your lounge /dining room or use her as a dresser in your bedroom. Wherever you choose to use Brontë, she is sure to be a statement piece for your home.
The old varnish has been sanded away and the wood re-oiled to reveal the most stunning walnut grain. In particular, the walnut grain on the top of this dresser is outstanding and was simply too beautiful to paint. Multiple coats of Osmo Oil have been applied to the top ensuring it has all the protection it needs for everyday living.
The two large cupboards provide ample storage for whatever you need to hide away. The doors each swing open to reveal 3 shelves along with the distinctive Shrager maker’s mark. The 3 large central drawers boast handmade dove-tail joints, have been lined with a luxurious black and gold paper and nourished with a delicious smelling furniture salve. The top drawer is lined with the original maroon velvet which is in excellent condition. The top drawer also contains a pop-up mirror and additional storage. The original scalloped mirror is an optional feature of the dresser which certainly adds a beautiful, elegant touch to the piece. The back of the mirror displays her original date stamp of 1953.
Shrager pieces are incredibly hard to come by in NZ and Brontë truly is a one-of-a-kind piece. She’s gone from rags to riches and her fabulousness has been restored! Taylor Made Vintage furniture pieces are completely unique – snap her up before she is gone as there isn’t another one like her.
As with all vintage furniture, this piece has experienced a past life and so may show signs of minor imperfection. This just adds to the character and charm.
